Meetup with Milkdrop Founder Alex Sinickas|Bright

Tuesday 24 May 2022
5pm – 7pm
Bright Co-Working

Hear from engineer, Alex Sinickas, on how she founded her business Milkdrop, which is redesigning the breast pump from the nipple up.

Alex started Milkdrop with the goal of changing how women feel when they pump, by redesigning the pump from the nipple up .

It may sound like a niche issue, but it isn’t. For every 10 women who pump, 7 have nipple damage and 8 say they feel like a cow. In Australia, 300,000 women per year use a breast pump, and 4 million use a pump in the USA.

Milkdrop’s ultra-soft breast pump cushions stretch over the head of most breast pumps to make pumping more comfortable. They are helping reduce swelling and redness for new mothers across Australia and won a Good Design Award last year. Check them out here.

Alex built Milkdrop with the support of government and private investment from Amazon, the Victorian Government’s Alice Anderson Fund, Startmate, Swinburne University, and the Federal Governments Boosting Female Founders Grant, and is starting to export this month.

Join us to hear Alex’s stories of her experience building a product business, the barriers and challenges for startups especially in regional areas, and her plans for the next steps of growth.
